Retained by the Village of Cambridge to assist in long term planning of West Side Park, Kelly Thompson provided Architectural Design Support and Peer Review Services for the construction of the structure. Its primary function to provide infrastructure support for a lift station was embellished with public accommodations such as toilet facilities, concessions and warming rooms in order to support the park. This structure’s significant architectural and social impact to the Village’s near west side community required special consideration. Yet it was a small investment within a large infrastructure improvement project. Considering the context of historic downtown and scale of the neighborhood, this structure expresses traditional detailing, scale, massing and sustainability.
