Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce

KONTEXT architects is among Sun Prairie area firms associated with the renovation of the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce office at 109 East Main Street in downtown Sun Prairie.

Demolition is expected to begin on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 with renovation completion expected some time in late 2024.

The $500,000 project is being paid for by a $172,000 American Rescue Plan Act grant, a Downtown Sun Prairie Business Improvement District Façade Improvement Grant, as well as donations.

KONTEXT architects is donating supervisory architectural design services for the project. Interiors by JW has donated interior design and drafting services. To prepare for the future, the existing building will be engineered to possible accommodate a second floor. The new level of the building could potentially serve as a small business incubation center or as a hub for other Sun Prairie area economic development.

Jeremy Woldt — from Interiors by JW who also serves as the secretary for the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors — will oversee the bidding process.

Youth from Operation Fresh Start will provide demolition and framing in a service partnership as part of the project. The renovation will be the first improvement to the building since 1993, when the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce moved into the space.

Key portions of the project will include increased energy efficiency, storm water diversion, updated security and a secure after-hours vestibule for travelers to access Visit Sun Prairie materials will be part of the renovation.

Individuals may make tax-deductible donations through December 2024 for the chamber office remodeling project to the Sun Prairie Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, by contacting Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christina Williams via email at christinawilliams@sunprairiechamber.com.
